Another trust company says they are the best and everyone else’s product is no good. Are they the best?
From religion, trusts or a restaurant - any place that is that arrogant I would worry about. After losing my business, house, ranch and wife to IRS in 1994 I wanted to absolutely make sure it could not, would not, ever happen again. I did lots of research. I bought several of the best, highly advertised $995+ trusts out there. Some parts were good. All had self serving parts like:

* I needed them as trustees at $50 each x 2 trustees per year. This had to be paid yearly on each trust bought from them. This can get expensive.

* Or I would put all my assets in the name of unknown trustees and they would sign off deeds if I needed to sell or buy something. What would happen if they disappear? (They did) How do I sell my house now- they have to sign it off. Oops!

* Or they could step in and take control of the trust assets if they deemed it an emergency (like too much money in it?)

* I didn’t want to fool with offshore trusts as the IRS is targeting those heavily. They are expensive, complicated, cumbersome and slow to get things done. They make you look sneaky. You don’t have to go to this much secrecy unless you have lots of drug money to hide.

Here's what I wanted:

*  Asset protection and ease of transferring assets in and out.

* Total control and minimum liability.

* No mandatory ongoing yearly expenses or fees.

There are probably several trusts out there that are good. Use your intuition with what feels right for you. If you can find a better one - order it!
